In its continuous effort to grow through innovation and to expand its network of Partnerships within the bonded composite repair field, GMI has recently signed a new tripartite MoU in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, with KKIP Aerospace Training Centre (KATC) and with the support of GMI exclusive representative in Malaysia, Hypercoat Enterprises.

The main purpose of this tripartite MoU (KATC, GMI & Hypercoat) is to support KATC towards becoming a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in bonded composite repairs for Malaysia and the broader Southeastern Asia, enabling Training and Research & Development activities, while fostering economic growth.

We are today proud to announce that the first Level 1 Bonded Composite Repair Training has taken place at KATC facilities, by GMI/ Hypercoat local trainer Mr Sivabalan Thirunavukkarasu, covering basic composite repair topics and advanced repair techniques, according to EASA, FAA and CACRC guidelines.

Thanks to GMI and Hypercoat Enterprises for making this 1st joint training possible. Participants from Layang-Layang Aerospace, Sabah Air, University Malaysia Sabah and KATC instructors are very pleased with the quality of the training provided. We are looking forward for more joint training and will offer to customers around the region” said Aminuddin Zakaria, CEO KATC.

Training certificates were jointly awarded by KATC, Hypercoat and GMI, underlying the importance and the completeness of this joint Composite Repair Training, thanks to the combination of excellent training facilities, complete training syllabus and fully experienced instructors

The successful implementation of this training demonstrates GMI ability to provide training and consultancy services worldwide, thanks to its extensive network of reliable Representatives and Trainers, such as KATC and Hypercoat Enterprises.

Considering the rapidly growing volume of composite materials on modern aircraft and the increasing need for repairs of the older ones, it is expected that airlines and MROs using innovative GMI solutions and partner Universities’ and companies’ support will be provided with a very important advantage compared to competition, in terms of range of available solutions, cost efficiency and performance
